Hi, would anyone have a good colour scan of the box lid for HP 00041-15043 HP-IL Development Module, especially the rust red colour label at the bottom ?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
John
Unfortunately, this is one of the rare 41 module from HP that I do not have the original box.
Actually, I do not remember when I bought an original one in the 1980's if there was even a box with this one.
FYI, that module was released twice:
- HP-IL Diagnostic Module (internal version)
ROM → ET-14048
MAN → Steve Chou : PIL Diagnostic ROM Preliminary ERS (12/80)
.
- 00041-15043 : HP-IL Development (official version)
ROM → 5061-5271
MAN → 00041-90449 : HP-IL Development Module Owner's Manual (10/82)
Sylvain
Hi Sylvain,
To be honest I have no idea if there was ever a box either !. I just happened to have a spare brand new Ext-IO module box, so I thought I would re-label it to be my IL Dev Module Box, after all a 41c accessory box is a 41c accessory box, the only difference is the sticker on the front.
I didn't know there were two releases of this module, is there an easy way to tell which one I have ?
Cheers,
John

Is there no label on your module?

The HP-IL Diagnostic Module was never released as a product per-se, it was used internally within HP, but over time eventually escaped both by HP service folks leaving modules in 41s sent in for service, and also via PPC.
If your module has the normal (white lettering on black) HP-IL Devel ROM label, then it's the normal, released version.
I
think I still have my original box from the 80's and will check in the next couple days. IIRC, it was not the standard (red on beige) box style, but could be wrong.
Hello John,
is this the label you are looking for? I think it is an early version.
Greetings
Thomas

Actually, the 00041-15043 version was released and was in official price lists with a SRP of 75.00 USD.
It was also included in the 82166C HP-IL Development Kit.

Wow! Thanks for correcting me!
While I now recall the latter, I don't think I ever knew that it was formally sold and included on price lists. I don't doubt you about the price list, but which kind of list have you seen this on, e.g. in the common tri-fold brochure-type lists of that era, or on the full-page document-type lists? I have many of them and will peruse them to find it, primarily to see what other obscure products were included at that time. No need to scan it, just ;let me know the date if you find one.
Of course the question now becomes what was the box/label like for the Diag ROM SKU that was sold....

Oh, that's the HP-IL
Development Module! I was referring to the HP-IL
Diagnostic ROM above when I said it was never sold, which I still believe.
And looking at the
82166C Contents one can see the HP-IL Development ROM was included here as well.
I believe the "devel ROM" was a superset of the Diag ROM, which is likely how HP "productized" the earlier tool, originally intended for internal use.

Yep! you are right, the diagnostic version was never sold to the public.

Two modules and one manual was included.

Thanks for all the info folks, much appreciated !

So, I am thinking of selling my 5061-5271 HP-41 HP-IL Development Module as part of a reduction of my HP calculator stuff !
I can't see any listed on eBay or anywhere else, which surprises me as I would have thought there would be a lot of these about considering they were included in the 82166 kits.
Any idea what the 5061-5271 HP-41 HP-IL Development Module with a nice reproduction spiral bound colour manual might be worth ?
Thanks
John
