Hello,
I have 2 units that answer the same error when I use functions which manages the memory.
For instance PG returns 505505 and and P49 (Clear memory) 505.
I suspect the batteries are dead.
I disassembled both units but there's no value (V and mAh) on batteries.
The only indications are obsolete references :

If anyone could let me know that would be great.
Thanks.
I would guess these are NiCd batteries enclosed in shrink tubing. Peel the wrapping back to see how they are electrically connected to the board and each other. If they are a standard cell size (C cell f'instance) then you can find replacements with or without tabs at various battery suppliers including Amazon.

Fun little restoration project!

Hello Mark,
HP New year !
Thanks for your reply.

I took the batteries apart before reading your post.
Size is 31 x 14.
One is dead and the other is charging. I confirm 2 x 1.2V.
I replaced the battery pack, however I still have the undocumented 505505 error.

The HP-IL Module is working.
CCD Module CAT'0 returns 01*GDT126A.
I tried 1, SELECT, MANIO and PRSTK.
Nothing wrong occured.
Waiting for better days, I have to build a DB15-DB9 adaptor.

I fear it will be endless and painful.
Otherwise it will end up as a paperweight.

Kind regards from France.
Given the lack of information obtained,
I decided to recover the 2 HP-IL modules and to reprogram the 3 CMT-10-16K modules.
Everything else goes in the trash.
Fin de l’histoire.
