Hi,
I was scanning a Japanese brochure for the HP67/97 and noticed that the drawing/images on the first page showed the "YHP" (Yokogawa Hewlett Packard) logo on the calculator bezels. Also, in the HP67 it actually said "YOKOGAWA HEWLETT PACKARD" there:


Would anyone know whether these units ever saw the light of day with the YHP designations?

The interesting part is that "500 step equivalent" at the top. Were they just referring to an average 224-step program having 500 merged keystrokes, or did they have something else up their sleeves here?

I've seen photos of a '97 that had the YHP label on the front. I'm pretty sure it was by a member here, but don't recall who it was; hopefully, he'll see this thread and confirm so.

And yes the 500 was used to represent how many single key steps the 67/97 224 merged steps was equal to.

I remember that too (unobtainable collector's items have their special place in some EPROM like structure in my memory ;-) ) and the search button finds two threads from the last years:

Recently I stumbled upon the web page presented by Mr. Tetsuji Oguchi (NEC). Although it does not answer the question above there is an very interesting document related to YHP 65 (look at the lower part of the page for the link to PDF document):

Thanks for sharing the link, however note to readers: The document is in Japanese, so hard to read for most of us, and the poor quality scan likely makes it a poor candidate for OCR.

That's most fascinating - it looks like a "reverse-engineering/analysis" of the HP65 that NEC did in 1975!!! It would be most interesting if someone could translate it!
