I tried a post, but it did not show up any where. So I'll try again until I figure this out.

New users are put on moderated status for a while to make sure they are not spammers.

If we did not do this, the forum would be unusable for all the spam / spammers the moderators clear out that the members never see.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but after a few posts that are on topic :-) the moderation goes away.
