On the OP issue : regardless of the poor wording, one quickly figures out the ENTER behavior;
I've seen (lots of) not-needed ENTERs only in novice's programs.
One might ask why so many novices use (lots of) not-needed ENTERs in their programs. For a possible answer see my other post:

but really this post is about a difference in 2 manuals that say the same thing in different ways. you don't have to press enter sometimes if you already have the number out of the command line and in the stack and your doing a math function to it.
Pressing [enter] is optional after entering a number, if the next key
pressed is an operation.
NOTE: pressing [Input] or [=] is optional after keying in a number, if the next key
pressed is an operation.

In RPL you need another ENTER. One more key press on the same key. Heaps better than your solution.
Joe's example addresses your problem in a way.
