Pre-prequisites
  • MacOS 11.6 (BigSur)
  • HP Connectivity Kit Build: 2.1.14425 (2020 1 16) installed
  • System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Input Monitoring - give permission to Terminal and HP Connectivity Kit.app
  • A USB-2 hub
The USB-2 hub is vital - the upgrade would not work at all when directly connected to a USB3 port or a USB3 hub. This is a known bug.

Install steps
  • Download the 2021.10.01 firmware from https://www.hpcalc.org/details/7783
  • Upzip it and copy the contents into the "Documents:HP Connectivity Kit:Firmware:PrimeG2" folder. Copy just the individual files not any enclosing folder that may have resulted from the unzip. Delete any previous files that might be there already, first.
  • Connect the Prime to the Mac by USB cable (remembering to go through the USB2 hub)
  • Start the HP Connectivity Kit and it should more or less immediately display a popup dialog asking if you want to upgrade to the 2021.10.01 version. Say yes and wait

The upgrade should be quite quick - less than a minute to transfer the firmware (during which the Prime will display a "Do not disconnect" warning) and then 30 seconds or so to update the firmware on the Prime (during which a 3 row progress bar chart is shown).

If the calc appears to do nothing, locks up or goes back to input mode (so you can enter numbers on the keyboard for example) then you have gone wrong.

Thanks a million, Bruce!
Your process worked fine for me and my G2 Prime, from my MacBook Pro.

Looks like this firmware also introduced new formatting options for the "TEXTOUT" commands. These will certainly be very useful. More details in the command's corresponding help manual page.
There is an error in the HELP example, instead of commas it should be;

TEXTOUT_P("Hello HP Prime",100,100,4,RGB(255,0,0),200,RGB(0,255,255)); WAIT

I never understood why Hp prime doesn’t have an official website for support, so for firmware download. What did I miss?

I tried to update but in the hp site there isn't this new update and the same with connectivity kit.

The last is the Firmware Version: 2021 04 28 (14566).
Manual installation instructions as described previously by @BruceH

- Download the 2021.10.01 firmware from https://www.hpcalc.org/details/7783
- Delete any files that might be in "Documents\HP Connectivity Kit\Firmware\PrimeG2".
- Unzip the downloaded firmware and copy the contents into the "Documents\HP Connectivity Kit\Firmware\PrimeG2" folder. Copy just the individual files not any enclosing folder that may have resulted from the unzip.
- Connect the Prime to your PC by USB cable
- Start the HP Connectivity Kit and it should more or less immediately display a popup dialog asking if you want to upgrade to the 2021.10.01 version. Say yes and wait

And YES, it is peculiar that HP does not have its own proper support and downloads website. Even its FTP-site does not seem to be updated with this latest firmware version 2021-10-01.

I've already updated manually my hp prime g2; the question was only for the support site for the hp Smile Btw thanks.
HP's Support forum for the Prime is here:

The recent Prime downloads on hpcalc.org are beta releases; the ftp site only provides official released files. When the beta cycle ends and a new formal release is ready, it will be available on the ftp site, but it will also be on hpcalc.org, likely even sooner... Wink

So the 2021-10-01 release is beta? It doesn't say that anywhere on the Help screen which it usually does.
Hello,

With no words from Tim or Cyrille about this release, and the only comment about it coming from Moravia (and fuzziness about beta state), is anyone else suspects that HP Prime firmware development is now managed at Moravia?

This release came from Cyrille. He did not indicate it was a beta release when he sent it to me to add to my site. Later inquiry (after I saw the Moravia comment) indicated that it is indeed beta, even though it says that nowhere. Things do seem less formal and less organized than before.
Is there anybody using this update with a Prime G1?

I have the problem with the Connectivity Kit resetting the calculator as soon as I try to open the [+] tree in the Connectivity Kit. This makes it impossible to transfer any data.

The same happened already with previous updates and I feel that G1 support is dropped but nevertheless the corresponding files are provided.

I just wrote a long, frustrated post at https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Calculator...629#M14128 to complain.

Arg!@!

I hope not. I don't want porn on my HP Prime or on the HP Prime firmware/virtual calc/connectivity kit download page

Yes it's working for me. Prime firmware and Connectivity kit version 2.1.14596.
But the Connectivity kit freeze for 10s at each action I do when the calculator is connected.

Does your systems VERSION() command show the same as mine?

Code:
HP Prime Software Version 2.1.14596 (2021 10 01)
Hardware Version A
CAS Version 1.5.0
Operating System V0.050.640
Yes I have exactly the same information.

Try connecting the calc through a USB 2 hub rather than USB 3.
(10-03-2021 08:18 PM)toml_12953 Wrote: [ -> ]Notice it says some USB 3 ports, not all. This bug was fixed in version 1.2 and we're up to 2.1 now so it shouldn't be a problem unless you haven't updated since an ancient version.

My HP Connectivity Kit [Build: 2.1.14425 (2020 1 16)] crashes when updating via an USB3 hub but works fine when updating via some old USB hub. So maybe the fix wasn't all that good.

Martin.
Since this update, the "save and load function" in the Home-View has been added. Also the help file for the "Home save and load" as well as the DataStreamer app and Phyton app was supplemented.

I unfortunately noticed this only today with the latest firmware update from 2021 11 25.
