The CAS output messages are displayed in the terminal view, but this has a problem, which is that when I am printing text in the terminal view, the messages overlap the output text, hence the CAS messages should be better displayed in a popup window or within the history view

An idea is shown in the second line of the following image

A consequence of using a pop-up window in place of recording an error message to the terminal is 1) You need a means of dismissing the pop-up, and 2) You lose the record of the error.

I'm not so keen on the idea of a popup. But an inline message in the history view has the benefit of providing immediate context for the error message.
