Has anyone tried replacing the Sony floppy disk drive in a 9114 with a floppy emulator that allows you to plug in USB memory sticks?

The Gotek SFRM72-U100 floppy emulator allows 1000 partitions of 720K on a single USB stick, selectable by push button. See this advert on eBay.

FlashFloppy with the Gotek drive already supports many unique retro drives.
Or how 'bout SD card? (SD card is much, much simpler than USB, particularly in SPI mode.) (Edited for typo.)
Mark,

I have replaced the infamous early SONY drives with a HxC (slim) emulator. At the time, no alternative firmware for the Gotek drives was available.

Such a replacement should also be possible for the later models in the 9114, but so far I have had no reason to do this (fingers crossed).

You can find some notes in PDF format on my web site https://www.mh-aerotools.de/hp/.

Mark, did you try this with a Gotek floppy emulator? I'm also interested in doing this on my 9114b.
