I have an HP42S which works just fine but the display has some pixels that are constantly on and are staring to make the numbers unreadable. Is there anyone out there who has and knows how to replace these displays?
The only suitable donor for a 42S is a 17B. But I think you need the same bezel type to match also (recessed or not).

It could be that cleaning of the zebra strips and LCD contacts of the PCB is enough to fix that.
you can read this post and the links supplied to understand if you can easily open yourself the calculator and check inside

Isn't the 27S also a match for the display of the 42S? Though I'd be dead set against killing a good, working 27S.

I agree, but I think Sanjeev implied that a working 27S is not suitable... Wink

You caught me Bob! I’d hate to use a working 27S as a donor! But striegel is correct, a non working 27S is also a suitable donor.
