Wonderful, many thanks to both!

Yes. But replace the crows by much better-looking flamingoes and it would be a flamboyance.

thanks for the PDF, however, I think this is a different module. MINDEF probably references the Singapore Ministry of Defence but that's just a guess.

I am just reading this old tread and MINDEF is the usual term for the Dutch Ministry of Defence (also in the 80's). I already asked some people but no result till now.

I would say "discontinuation," rather than "obsolescence." Wiktionary.com defines "obsolete" this way:
(of words, equipment, etc.) No longer in use; gone into disuse; disused or neglected (often by preference for something newer, which replaces the subject).
The 41 is certainly not neglected, let alone for preference for something newer. Thankyou for your work Angel to bring out what this model is capable of.

I am using the 41 more or less daily since 1984, I just didn't realize there was a community like this till about a month ago when I discovered the DM41X and bought one.
My 48G lays unused in a drawer at the office desk since 1995 or so, its not mine otherwise I had sold it long time ago, I found both the keyboard layout and programming horrible compared to the 41.
