Actually, Caig recommends you clean contacts first with DeOxit Red, and then treat the cleaned contacts with DeOxit Gold, as a preservative.
Unsure that this wasn't a gimmick to sell 2 products instead of one, I tried to see, and was mildly surprised to see that their advice is exactly right. Red does clean better, and it's cheaper too.
Just some advice...

Thanks - I was wondering about that and was about to ask as other references say use Deoxit L (red I believe).
Locally there's a bundle of both of them but it's $30 so I hope it works!
