Gene, I imagine that you get quite a few spammers. Thank you (and the other moderators) for doing this invisible service.
This forum has been around much longer than the SwissMicros forum and has much more exposure, and yet over there I had to kick out between 30 and 40 junk sign-ups every day (from certain IP addresses or from well known VPN services) until I started blocking access from those parts of the internet. I can't begin to imagine what it must be like here!

Noticed this when trying to connect to SM forum while already connected to my VPN (Your IP was banned, or something along the lines). Could not understand at first.

If you will be coming in from a specific IP address that you alone use, I can whitelist that.
Spammers absolutely love using a VPN because it covers their tracks.

Don't remember exactly from what VPN location I was connected. Made some attempts a couple of hours ago: no issue this time. Possibly the external IP changed since last time.
Anyway this is not a problem: I usually connect from my home IP.
