An excerpt from Stress and Strain Concentration Factor Evaluation Using the Equivalent Energy Concept, JAROSLAV POLÁK, Materials Science and Engineering, 61(1983)195-200
"SUMMARY
The energy approach to local stress and strain evaluation in a notch in materials with a power law type of hardening curve is generalized. The formulae for relative stress and strain concentration factor evaluation using the generalized equivalent energy method, the Neuber method and the Hardrath-Ohman method are derived and the results are compared for low carbon steel …
…
5. CONCLUSIONS
(1) The generalized equivalent energy method yields stress and strain concentration factors dependent on the stress-strain relation of a particular metal and on the product of the nominal stress and theoretical stress concentration factor. The local stress and strain are obtained by a solution of an equation that is easy to program on a programmable calculator or a pocket computer.
…
APPENDIX A
The program in BASIC (for a Sharp PC 1211 pocket computer) used to calculate the relative stress and strain concentration factors ×σ & ×ε depending on σ using the equivalent energy method, the Neuber method and the Hardrath-Ohman method …
