Wow. Another Woodstock-esque "death by nicad regulation" victim.
Brilliant hack though, using a repurposed LED watch chip for a low power RTC, then decoding the seven segment outputs. I hope that guy got a raise - must have saved them a fortune.
I wonder if HP got the die from TI and packaged the chip themselves? Or if TI did it and custom marked it for them, and maybe other OEM's?
