The address is specified by jumper switches on the drive itself, not by the CPU / OS. Typically there is a dip-switch panel on the rear of the drive, however exact details vary my drive model. What kind of drive is it?
I remember I had a command that showed the address of the drive drive unlike MSI ": D700: '" it was used print command [end line] showed in the video :D700

The command MSI ':DXXX' sets which drive is the current default drive (i.e. which drive is used be default if you use commands like CAT without specifying a drive). The command 'MSI' is short for 'Mass Storage Is', and was not built-in, but added via system extensions like the one from Everett Kaser.

Maybe are you thinking to the MSUS$ function. It is in the Electronic Disc ROM, so built-in the HP85B.

85 x thanks J-F :-)
Yes, thanks very much JF, I didn't know this command. No doubt it's in the manual, one of too many I haven't had time to read...
