Full Version: Separate Imaginary and Real parts of an expression

Hello

Is there a way to automatically let the prime separate the real part and the imaginary part of an expression?

Take a look at the attached picture

According to the help, it looks like this is exactly what i have searched for.

Unfortunatley the example from the help gives me a different answert than the one which is shown in the help.

Does anybody know why im getting IM and RE in the answer?

You may have "Complex" checked in the CAS settings, if so x, y and z are supposed to be complex variables and you get IM and RE in the answer. Uncheck "Complex" and you should get the same result as the one shown in the help.

Yup, that "complex" flag needs to go away and probably will sometime soon.
