Sharp made a version of the 1500 for radio shack , different key layout but the machine was the same under the skin

There's a clone of this machine made by Híradástechnika Corp. in Hungary based on the Sharp license. It was dubbed "PTA-4000" and has been relatively common (well, compared to Eastern bloc IT standards, that is) in during the '80s. It was sold in a kit with the KA-160 plotter/docking station and came with a 16kB RAM modul included.

A Chinese company Nanfeng was also authorized to produce PC-1500. I would recommend the great website http://www.pc-1500.info for more information about the 1500 series.

Thanks for that link, looks like a lot of info there.

I worked at Sharp starting in the late 80's and got to meet many of the engineers that worked on the PC-1500, I only wish I could have spent more time with them, a really bright and hard-working set of guys, yet also fun to drink beer with.
