My first serious calculator while in college were the TI-58 and later a TI-59. I was an engineering student at the time and wanted to skip learning the slide rule. Electronic Calculators seemed to be a better option for me. I remember the RPN vs Algebraic discussions at the time, but it wasn't until I purchased the HP-41C that I was able to try RPN for myself. I was then hooked with the machine and has always used an RPN machine ever since. I graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science and worked as a computer programmer for over 20 years and my trusty HP calculator was always part of the tools that I used in my professional life.

In 2001, I went through a divorce and as a result, I misplaced my calculators. I had an HP-11c, HP41C, HP-41CV, HP-41CX, HP-71B, HP-28S and all types of accesories for both the HP-41s and the HP-71B. I miss them all.

During the 1980s, I attended PPC meetings in Santa Ana and later in Long Beach. I met some very sharp people at those meetings and learned a great deal about programming from them. I miss those meetings very much once PPC was no longer around.

Presently, I own an HP-49g+, HP-48sx, HP-50g, HP-12C, HP35s, and I just purchased an HP-41CV from that four letter auction site we all know.

Currently, I am in the process of changing my profession to high school math teacher and I am attending California State University Los Angeles.

I worked as a substitute teacher for several school districts in southern California and I noticed that there is a great deal of information on TI calculators in most mathematics classrooms in middle schools and high schools, but nothing on HP calculators. When I am finished with my schooling and become a full time teacher I will do my part at introducing HP calculators and RPN to my students.

I would like to attend the HHC conference in October, but I do not think I will be able to attend because of school. Hopefully, I can go the following year.

I am glad that this forum exists so that I can still get information on HP calculators that I cannot get anywhere else.
