Engagdet link

Not often a calculator of any sort gets mentioned on engagdet.

In terms of processing speed maybe, but some things really don't work in black and white (or rather grey in grey). Doom without blood is like an HP calculator without an Enter key ;-)

NB: Out 11 year oold son is just getting his nSpire now (a little early I think, but obviosly the way it is handled by his school) so I hope he dosen't find out about this doom thing...

Rumors are that TI is presenting a color version of the Nspire soon: TI Nspire CAS CX (source). If only the Hackspire folks crack this system as they did with the current version, we'll see Doom in color. ;)

Any URL for more info about the colored TI Nspire?

Just some pictures comparing the existing NSpires with the new one. Probably won't know any details until they announce it.

Now, Gerson has been challenged. I'm sure he'll have Doom running on a 12c+ within a week! ;-)

Hi John,

Didn't you mean Gene?

I woudn't be able to have Tic-Tac-Toe running on a 15C even within a month...

By the way, there are some Doom versions for the HP-48/49G at hpcalc.org:

http://www.hpcalc.org/search.php?query=Doom

I guess they don't compare to the nSpire version, though.

Regards,

Gerson.

So now we know what graphic calcs are needed for - finally ;)

For those who don't need playing DOOM on mobile, instant on devices the screen may be considerably smaller. And weight and power consumption, too. When I need a wrench I need a good, solid wrench and don't care about bells and whistles ... YMMV

83/84 to not only get online, but play multiplayer games: http://www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5754

Old news, but an 84 was used to jailbreak a PS3: http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/11/ps3-jailbroken-with-a-ti-84-plus-calculator/

While I think playing Doom, multiplayer calc games, and other clever TI hacks are useless, I still have to admire the hacks and applaud them. Especially, when they involving connecting things.

My useless HP hacks that involve connecting things:

41CX home automation: http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/articles.cgi?read=763

71B navigation: http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/articles.cgi?read=746

50g serial keys: http://sense.net/~egan/skb/

I think I'll find a way to control my TV with my 41CX next. :-)
