How to: HP-IL copy all files ???
Message #1 Posted by Dave Mabry on 15 Mar 2003, 10:50 a.m.

Is there an easy way to copy an entire medium from an HP-IL mass storage device to another mass storage device? It looks like the Extended I/O module on an HP-41C would do it, but I don't have that module. I would like to be able to copy all the files from a tape to a diskette or vice versa. I have a tape drive and a diskette drive.

I've been looking at the manual for the Extended I/O module and it looks like there is a function in it that would with one command do the entire medium.

ISTR that the Extended I/O module generally brings big bucks on e-pay, and it seems that they don't come up very often, so I'm hoping there is an easy alternative.

Thanks.

Sounds like a job for the Autostart/Duplication module (P/N 00041-15042). (See HP Key Notes Volume 6 Number 3)

alternatively this would be a nice and easy job for EMU41 with virtual EXT-I/O module. And you need the HP-IL/PC interface card for adapting the to real mass storage drives to the PC.

Furthermore EMU41 gives you much more features and solutions for real and virtual HP41 handheldcomputer applications.

Refer to HP-Museum article forum item 311 "HP41-PC gateway & emulator".

Best wishes from Germany - Christoph Klug
