95lx ac adapter

i found a 95lx for cheap and its kind of fun. i'd like to give it an ac adapter. i think it wants a 12vdc 700ma unit. what + & - variance do i have here?

hi db: my used 95LX came w/ HP AC adapter #82241A, output is listed as 9V AC, 13.5VA max; can anyone verify this is the correct unit? it works correctly, altho i don't use if for long periods of time; the adapter is a fairly large (physi= cally) unit. tnx, barry carson city, nv

When they first came out, I was a registered HP95LX developer. Their engineers told me that it was O.K. to drive the machine directly off of a 12VDC car system (14.4V avg, really nasty transients). For some other reasons, I wound up doing this but dropped the voltage around 4V through a string of six diodes and some filtering inductors and capacitor. On the connector, I had the center post positive.
