BASIC PLUS for Series 200/300 Computers
BASIC PLUS is an add-on library which allows to easily add "modern" controls like buttons and menus to your BASIC program ( workstation BASIC version 6).

At the other HP-Museum site, the older version of this library is available, order number E2160A.
There is a better version E2161A that supports more controls.
Documentation for that enhanced version can easily be found, but not the software itself.

Has anyone got the disks and is ready to share them? I am ready to help, making copies, creating appropriate file formats for sharing etc..

Important note: I am talking about the "workstation (WS) version" of BASIC and BASIC PLUS. WS BASIC is a standalone operating system. There is also a BASIC / UX and the suitable BASIC PLUS /UX which runs under HP-UNIX only. They are not compatible with BASIC as an operating system, and I am not interested in these.

RE: BASIC PLUS for Series 200/300 Computers
Hi,

I have a Series R workstation (R382) configured as a Basic Workstation.

I has a hard disk drive (SCSI) with the original distribution and there I found a directory called PLUS with the following files (ignore the date and permissions of the files, the listing is from my Unix system where I transferred the files):

Looking at the BPLUS file I found the copyright notice:
BASIC Plus 6.2 Copyright HP 1991 9/30/91

Is this what you are looking for?

RE: BASIC PLUS for Series 200/300 Computers
Hello Vassilis,
thank you for the list of contents of your PLUS directory!
Unfortunately you seem to have to older version of BASIC PLUS for BASIC 6.2, which is available from the Museum's site. On the pictures of the disks you can see "Copyright 1991". The enhanced version of the PLUS library probably has a date stamp of 1994, the same as the manuals for this latest version.
Please keep these file and make backups nevertheless; I didn't test the files from the museum yet, and sometimes files are corrupted. So you might have the only complete and readable collection of PLUS files. If I should encounter problems when copying and testing the files from the museum site, I would be happy if I could get a copy of your directory.
Besides, your version of PLUS could be an error-corrected improved version; the museum's disks are labelled "Rev. A.00.00", which could designate a prototype (beta) version.

Hi Michael,

Is this what you're looking for?

[Image: E2161-13600_BASIC-PLUS_6.2-6.3_Disc.jpg]

As with other ISO images on the Australian Site, you'll need to contact the curator, who I believe is David Collins, for a copy.

RE: BASIC PLUS for Series 200/300 Computers
Hi Dave,

no, unfortunately not; your link shows the HP/UX version of BASIC PLUS, which is not the same as ( and not compatible with ) the BASIC PLUS for BASIC /WS ( means: BASIC Workstation; standalone BASIC system).
BASIC/WS never supported the CD ISO file system. Whenever you find Series 300 software on CD, it must be HP-UX software.
You can see that the BASIC PLUS for BASIC/WS version 2 (E2161-0045] exists from this link to a shop:

ADC_Colorado Software for Series 300

Here the floppy disks are listed for $ 100.-. I contacted the company and got an answer at first, the disks seem to be in stock still, but my following emails surprisingly weren't answered anymore. Maybe because the shop owner fears to have to deal with international shipping? Just a guess. Maybe you would be so kind and ask him if he is willing to sell the software?
I can provide an US address. I alternatively could send you the money if he prefers to sell to a compatriot.

RE: BASIC PLUS for Series 200/300 Computers
I see. You're looking for option #AA8, not #AAF.

I have inquired as to the availability of the discs.
