Hello,

New versions should be up on the FTP now. Connectivity kit check for update will find them. The windows emulator check for update should find the other as well. If your network blocks direct connection, the direct link can be found at "ftp.hp.com/pub/calculators/Prime/".

The three files can be downloaded directly using these links if the direct check for update mechanism times out (the ftp has a 2 minute session limit - so if your connection is slow the auto-update mechanism could stop before completion) or if FTP is blocked by a network administrator.

HP Prime Firmware Zip - Hardware Calculator
HP Prime Connectivity Kit Installer - Windows
HP Prime Virtual Calculator Installer - Windows

Provided you did not ever update to the since pulled r10077 version, this is a major release with a lot of new functionality, and extensive under the hood work in prep for later things. The marketing "blurb" is as follows:
  • Use the touch screen to move and stretch your function plots and see how your changes affect the equation
  • Enhanced touch screen curve sketching with cubic support
  • Add a picture to the background of any graph.
  • Draw your own fit with your finger in the Statistics 2Var app
  • Improved help throughout the system
  • Quality and reliability improvements

Note: Due to a need to format the internal flash structure of the calculator, all data will be lost during this update. Perform a "backup" using the connkit to save your data if there is anything you need to keep. If you click the "backup" button on the update screen and it immediately pops up a "failed" message, just click backup again and it should be fine.

For anyone *already* on that version, this is primarily a maintenance release with few new features. Special emphasis was made on usb<=>connectivity kit communication and correcting issues pointed out by users in forums such as this one.

Have fun!

Thank you to Tim, Cyrille and HP.

Can you comment regarding a firmware update to the iOS (and/or Android) versions of Prime? It would be nice to have the latest Firmware on our mobile devices, if possible.

Best regards.

RE: New Version: 2016.08.29 r10637
Thanks, Tim.

Updated the CK without a problem. However, I was only able to update the firmware with HP support on the phone, holding my hand, because the physical Prime update failed with error messages 20! and 30!, 2% done, and then hanging.

I guess Windows was searching for a driver, while attempting to update, and that messed things up. Got it running now, after trying various USB ports on my laptop.

Kudos to HP support!

Everything went without a glitch. I did update the hardware with the calc connected to USB 3.1 with Win 8.1 Pro, no problems. Why don't you make the fonts in the Connectivity Kit, the fonts for editing the programs, bigger?

Repeating my post and question now in the Official release thread:
<<
Updated the virtual and flashed Prime. From what I can tell so far this is a really good release. Many annoying issues I've tested so far are resolved and it feels just more stable... Great work!

Now to the usual question. I noticed that the User guide is still the old one from June last year that is now really out of date. Is there a plan to refresh the User guide? if so when can we expect it?

Well, that should hopefully be a thing of the past since there is a new update mechanism that just pushes the files to the device first using normal communications (no reboot and device type change), and then runs the update once they've safely arrived. Unfortunately, you wouldn't have been able to take advantage of that until this version is now on your calculator.

Glad you were able to get updated and it is working for you now.

RE: New Version: 2016.08.29 r10637
Yes thanks, everything works great, and I like the fixes, especially in CAS.

Only the numerical approximation in CAS is done too soon for some expressions involving sqrt and i. Take, for example, sqrt(1+i). Gets approximated right away. Why can't this expression stay in symbolic form? I'm in CAS, not in Home. I'd like to keep my chain of symbolic calculations in symbolic form. If I want to approximate, I can do that on my own.

Or at least, re-write as exp(1/2*ln(1+i)), similar to (1+i)^1/n, which become exp(1/n*ln(1+i)), for n>2.

Hopefully this isn't a superfluous question, but were the rare “bricking” issues associated with the pulled 10077 release figured out?

Continuing with this thread,
http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-6778.html

after correct upgrade in my hp prime, I think this has not been solved:

21. Resolved issue with (,) for decimal in number and the Solve app

If I use decimal point (.), I obtain correct results, however it is not if we use (,)

1: trivial errors, still not been solved =(

error with parser QUOTES fails on fractions, The operador '[]' are used for CAS entries, not be evaluated.

Case 1: using the operator '[]'

[SHIFT]+[()] + a/b [ENTER] -> ERROR ( 'a/b)'

or with help brackets

[SHIFT]+[()] + (a/b) [ENTER] -> ' (a/b) ' apparently okay on history view
but
[up][up][copy] [ENTER] -> ERROR ( 'a/b)'

Case 1: using the quote cmd

quote(a/b) [ENTER] -> '(a/b)' apparently okay
but
[up][up][copy] [ENTER] -> ERROR ( 'a/b)'

ENTRY FLAG: ALGEBRAIC ON, TEXT BOOK OFF
quote(a/b) [enter] '(a/b)' [up] [up] [COPY] [ENTER] '(a/b)' ok

also ONLY WORKS with capitals

QUOTE(a/b) [ENTER] -> '(a/b)' ok
[up][up][copy] [ENTER] -> '(a/b)' ok

Example 2:
ENTRY FLAG: ALGEBRAIC ON, , TEXT BOOK OFF

getOperator:=0; [enter]
part(quote(x^3/x^2),getOperator); returns "/" OK
goto history [^][^]
[copy] [enter] -> ERROR SINTAX =(
[Image: attachment.php?aid=3632]

THE SOLUTION, ON CAS MODE Pressing '' key encoded as QUOTE()

2: pretty mathematical print still unfinished=(

ENTRY: ALGEBRAIC OFF, TEXTBOOK ON

Ok for CK and the Prime.

RE: New Version: 2016.08.29 r10637
For some reason Virtual Calc. and ConnKit r10637 tries to update on Windows 10 but does not
succeed. Tried uninstalling the r10077 and replacing with a fresh install also but still no luck. I had to revert to version r10077 which worked fine. r10637 however works properly on Windows 7. Does anybody have a clue as to why that is? I understand this may not be a problem with HP. Thank you.

Hi Bernard,

I downloaded VC and KC from HP's ftp:// side with Internet Explorer and installed them manually on my Win 10 Home computer. Maybe you can try the same?!
