Bob,

The MIT site is a wonderful place I have wasted (enjoyed) many hours perusing the various materials that are available there for free.

If you enjoy the book on estimation, you might also enjoy one of his other books: "The Art of Insight in Science and Engineering: Mastering Complexity".

Link is:

Mastering Complexity

Has anyone here taken any of the MIT open courseware classes?

Bill,

I've started the second week of a twelve week course called The Analytics Edge (statistics, see the syllabus) through the edX site. Pretty good so far, though a bit tedious with the homework. Wink This is the first I've taken from MIT. All of the courses offered are fairly uniform in structure, with lectures, homework (multiple chances) and test (one chance, right or wrong) Access to TA's is through a discussion board, with an international cast of students talking about this week's topic. Many good university courses available - I took an excellent one from the University of Louvain (Peter Van Roy) last fall. Loved it.

I usually wait until the end of the second week to decide whether to continue, pay for official recognition (ridiculously cheap compared to campus rates), or drop.

Give it a try,
~ Mark
