Go41CX Overlay Loading Problem
Seems every 5 years or so, I have to ask this question. Smile

The last time I had this problem was Android 6 version. Now I'm on Ultra 22, and I can't seem to figure out the secret handshake to load overlays.

Previously, all I had to do was move an edited template to the files folder, and I could select it, with LOAD. But now that isn't working.

I know absolutely that I'm in the right location. But any overlay I place there is not seen by the LOAD function. To verify I was in the correct location, I RENAMED one of the overlays, and tried the LOAD, and it saw the overlay and LOADED it. But if I take that overlay, to another folder, edit it, then put it back, it is NOT seen.

Anyone understand this, to know why a new Overlay, is not seen, by putting it into the files folder? Maybe it has something to do with having to import it first, so that it show up. But then why would simply RENAMING it work? It wasn't imported with that name.

Very confusing.

I'm shure that "Ultra 22" isn't an Android-version and there were more then one version of go41cx in the last 5 years.

Your question? Yes!

All Overlays in "Android\data\o2s.emul.hp41cx\files" will be found by go41cx 1.92 on my Pixel 6 with Android 14

My calculators - former: CBM PR100, HP41CV, HP11C, HP28S - current: HP48G, HP35S, Prime, DM41X, DM42, HP12C

Ultra isn't a version, it's a product name (20 not 22). Specifically it's the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. Android version 14.

That's why I'm asking the question. It's not very helpful to tell someone they are found on yours. I want them to be found on mine. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. They are NOT on mine. All I see are RENAME, LOAD, and DELETE.

The ones that were alreay loaded, can be seen. If I copy it to another folder, to edit, change the name, then put it back into the same folder, it CANNOT be seen.

On the older versions there was an Import function. You could place all the overlays, into the files folder but you had to import them, first. Before the go41cx could use them. I don't see that ability now. I have tried moving edited files to the folder, and the go41cx, can only see the original overlays.

I am using go41cx v 1.9.2/z3qsqw

RE: Go41CX Overlay Loading Problem
According to the go41cx web page : "Overlays are 'xxx_o.png' files", so ensure that your renamed file names end with "_o.png".

Well duh... it was that simple. Thanks. Now it shows up. Can't believe I missed that all these years.

I didn't just write "on my smartphone", but also named the exact conditions (versions and folders), which is quite interesting for traceability. But you seem to want everything pre-written by a psychic. It seems you had luck and sometimes the manual helps.

Funny thing, some of the sample-overlays from the author didn't match this namen-converntions but seems to work.
