I with Tim here. It is far better to know enough about your data to choose an appropriate fit.
One of the students I did honours statistics with did an exhaustive search for GLIMs on one assignment. All the way up to four factor interaction terms. The resulting best fit was utterly impossible to interpret and a terrible model for the data. - Pauli |
