Would it be possible to put the complex indicator 'c' or arrow at the top and f-shift '<', g-shift '>' and h-shift '_' in the same two pixel wide position?

Using characters we didn't have space, but if you're going to graphics, it would be possible.

This would allow some space for the display of Y without things bouncing around. It also leaves space for the complex result indicator:

I don't know if there is enough distinction between these to make things obvious or not. That was always Walter's department.
