Sometimes is useful to keep ratios between temperatures and delta's, sometimes is not.

This means that there isn't an automated behaviour that can satisfy everyone in every situation.

I'd propose to leave the current behaviour unmodified, and introduce a command (UNORMALIZE?) to perform simplification at user's request.
