Don't be afraid. Patents don't live forever. In fact, they die after 18 years in Europe, IIRC. I'd guess US American rules are similar. After that lifetime, it's simply state of the art.

I see, this one in particular is dated 1991, and so are most of the other ones. US Patents are 20 years, as far as I could find on an internet search, so it looks like all these patents expired around 2011.
