For PrimeComm, definitely.
For libhpcalcs, IIRC, an user reported success patching the code that way. However, I cannot reproduce here (Debian sid amd64). Enumerating the 03f0:1541 HID device works, but then opening it fails. It occurs with both the libusb and the hidraw backends.
