CRC 100 from what I determined...

Read Mode: is buffer full? Status[3] = 1 if so
Write Mode: Is buffer empty? Status[3] = 1 if so

I could be wrong, but it also seems to test the head switch state.
Head Switch Closed - Status[3] = 1

It was the only way I could get my code to work properly with the HP microcode.

With the HP-97, for some reason the microcode sends out a carriage return as the first print nibble from regC. Normally this enables the motor reverse circuitry and homes the carriage, so it seems an odd place to have that data.

This only occurs when printing a program.
