Prime Colors - salvomic - 11-30-2017 03:23 PM

My wife doesn't like the colours of the (hardware) Prime's screen, nor light or dark; she says that it would be better to have also an intermediate theme, with the background like a "vintage" calculator (greenish or/and yellowish colour, like that of HP 42s or HP 15C or 50g) and also the title bar should be customisable, as she is trying now light theme with "ocra" effect, but the title bar remains still blue: not in theme with the yellowish effect...
Maybe she is right and a probable enhancement would be to have colour themes more customisable or to have a setting to put an image in the background, a skin like in the emulator... :-)

I wonder if is possible not only change the brightness (ON+ ON-) but also the contrast (or the angle of view), when one looks the screen at a different angle of view, like the control for LCD...

And yes, I would like not to have both the Primes with the same "light blu" color keys, but almost one with the "dark blu" nuance...

Are you satisfied with the colour themes, both for screen and keyboard?

Salvo

I'm fine with the color schemes (only use the default one anyway).

But I would like a panel with stronger backlighting. It is very hard to see anything on the screen in direct sunlight. I'm out in the field a lot, and the calculator is basically useless in those situations.

you're right, I have had similar experience...
But in cases like that now I use the iOS version (ok, for now there is no the beta version, still the old FW, but the brightness is better).

Yes, but I like the real Prime with real buttons to press. Running emulators on phones just ain't the same . . .

I like the darker blue for shift functions on Rev C keyboards. As far as the color schemes, I like the light themes better than the dark themes.

Eddie, is there a place where they sell the "darker blue labels" Prime?

I got mine from Amazon Uk. The new model international pack stated is indeed the high contrast version:

Well.
However the image in Amazon isn't so different, maybe it a standard one...

Ok, I think that could be an idea, as they are in Germany.
Thanks, Arno

If only I wouldn't have already A and C...
Do you know if that Prime are A or C version?
A part of the colours, I suppose they are not a real "new" model...

RE: Prime Colors - Arno K - 12-05-2017 10:42 AM

I can't tell, so I will wait until the end of this month, then a am on a trip to Berlin, I hope there is a shop where I can see what I buy.

Indeed, description shows «B-Version» in dynatech.de. There is mistake. The hardware version of calculator is C.

RE: Prime Colors - DrD - 12-05-2017 02:30 PM

Rev C hardware, alone, doesn't equal more legible keyboards. I have purchased two rev C models, the first rev C I purchased as a replacement for a failed rev A model. (It failed due to a defective key). That rev C HAS the less readable set of key legends! Recently (last month) I purchased another new rev C, from Best Buy, which I could see that had the darker more legible shift key legends.

I also can say that the darker legends are just an improvement. Only an improvement. The key legends are still difficult to see, but they are an improvement. It is particularly noticeable when my two rev C calculators sit side by side. If you are able to see them side by side with different ambient lighting conditions, such as color temperature (incandescent 2700K vs, daylight 5000K), or brightness levels (lumens), it makes a difference.

The newer rev C have numerical keys that are nearly white, instead of grey. (The orange alpha mode legends are more easily seen, against a white background). The darker blue legends for the shift mode keys, ARE a great improvement! Opinion: I see about twice the benefit of the newer keyboard over the previous, but no difference at all for the keys in the black area, (such as copy/paste etc.).

If you are buying a rev C hp prime for the first time, make sure you get the dark blue shift key model. The sky blue or lighter blue, is the earlier harder to see model. It is easy to confuse, since the toolbox key has a black surround, which can easily be seen, but look at the [Shift] key for a dark blue surround.

yes Dale, I agree.
I've A and C and both with the lighter blue, no such improvement...
However all the rest is the same, nothing is changed, also between the two versions.

Apart from that (desirable) improvement, in a next version of firmware it would be nice to have also features to set in a more complete way the internal colors: title bar, background, color shade (something is already in Home settings)... Smile
