Trying to Copy Program to Blank Card - jftman - 01-09-2024 12:36 AM

I have a 67 and 97.
Both card readers are reading cards.
I used the Games Pac Dice program for a test. My first time using a blank card.
Wanting to see is the write function works on the fresh HP 67 Gummy.

Got the reader working and follow the instructions to write a program in memory onto a blank card.
That is Switch in Run, switch it to w/program….then run a blank card through.
(No shift writeData).

The newly written (supposedly) card just gives ERROR.
I pull out the 97 and run it through and the reader struggles and makes noises. But a HP program card is noiseless and smooth.
The 97 gives ERROR as well.

ARE the blank cards thinner than HP card pac cards?
ARE any program cards copy protected? Maybe GAMES? For example?

So I am trying to verify that my card reader, in a newly acquired and Gummy job works to read and write….
Both the HP game card and the blank run through with no weird gittering on the 67.

The only write-protect feature is the clipped card corners as described in the manual.

The surface smoothness is slightly different, or there could be contaminates, or just a bad card.

You can try:
1) rubbing both sides of the card on a soft cloth
2) try a different blank card
3) ensure the write protect gold leaf switch is adjusted properly. A quick way to test is to insert the Kemper correction card in the left slot before a write operation - this will force the leaf switch open.
4) adjust the drive wheel axle to get more grip on the card

Good luck!
