USB Keyboard entry into HP Prime. - matalog - 05-13-2023 08:27 PM

Here I am using a USB Keyboard with HP Prime. The Keyboard is connected to the Hobbytronics USB Host Controller (Great device, link below) which has been programmed for USB HID Keyboard entry and outputs to UART, I updated the speed of UART to 19200 to match the default speed of the FT260 which it is connected to and finally the FT260 is connected to the HP Prime.

User gehakte_bits has been good enough to share their progress using the FT260, and while I am still only using UART connections, it proves to allow almost any in/outs you could ask for from the HP Prime. I have yet to fully understand i2c communication, but look forward to the higher rate of transfer allowed by it when I finally understand it.

Hobby tronics USB Host Controller - https://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/usb-host/usb-host-board-v24 - This is a great device for all input projects, get a good look at its details on their site.

FT260 - https://uk.farnell.com/ftdi/umft260ev1a/eval-board-usb-to-i2c-uart-module/dp/2668326 - This is a good device, more complicated to get to grips with, but it works fine and allows all sorts of in/outs to and from the HP Prime.

Very cool! Cyrillle implemented the USB commands, but we never were able to do more then just a trivial check that it "should work" and were directed not to spend more time on... glad to see it did! Smile
