Wanted: (Information about) Connectivity Kit for the HP 38G - Forsea - 01-04-2023 12:39 PM Hello there, I recently bought a HP 38G. Since I want to engage myself more in programming this thing it would be nice to be able to save 38G data on a PC. Does someone sell the HP Connectivity Kit for the 38G (hard- and software)? Does somebody know where I could buy one? Where can I at least get the cable (or the software)? Is there alternative software available? Any hints and tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks for taking your time to send an answer! Have a nice time, cheers! RE: Wanted: (Information about) Connectivity Kit for the HP 38G - johnb - 01-05-2023 12:47 AM Samson Cables still has this, I believe, for $15 plus shipping. You'll probably want to talk to them before ordering, just to confirm. https://samsoncables.com/catalog/prodDetail.cfm?Prod_ID=194 You'll need to look around for the Connectivity kit software, or else you'll end up buying it off one of the auction sites (WAY overpriced). If you're on Windows 11, you might have to run it in compatibility mode, or (irk!) in an older version of windows in an emulator or virtual machine. I have no idea about Apple machines... my last Apple was a ][+ (written correctly, with the brackets instead of 'II+'). If I'm not mistaken, this is the exact same cable and software that the 48G/G+/GX uses. So you might be able to use PC software for the 48g series. Try https://www.hpcalc.org/hp48/pc/link/ If you don't find the software anywhere, I might be able to scrounge up a copy of the PC software that works with the 48g series. Hope this helps! -- john.b RE: Wanted: (Information about) Connectivity Kit for the HP 38G - johnb - 01-05-2023 01:24 AM If the 38g uses the old XModem protocol, this will probably work: https://www.hpcalc.org/details/5411 RE: Wanted: (Information about) Connectivity Kit for the HP 38G - Didier Lachieze - 01-05-2023 02:08 AM See the Miscellaneous section on this page for the HP 38G Connectivity Kit. You’ll find also there a lot of files and programs for the 38G. RE: Wanted: (Information about) Connectivity Kit for the HP 38G - Forsea - 01-05-2023 08:20 AM Thanks to all of you for your answers, there are several valuable hints I didn't know about, great! Thanks again, cheers! RE: Wanted: (Information about) Connectivity Kit for the HP 38G - Forsea - 01-05-2023 02:43 PM My first thank-you-posting somehow got lost, so here again: Thanks to all of you for helping me out! I've ordered now the cable and I am curious whether I'll get some software running to communicate with the calculator. Will take some time until the cable gets here to Germany Cheers and thanks again! |
