Introducing serial printing on the HP41CL - MeindertKuipers - 04-11-2022 03:41 PM

Inspired by the IR printing on the DM41X I took up the challenge to do something similar on the HP41CL. After encountering several hurdles I am now happy to announce that I have a first working version. It needs some cleanup before I can release a first beta version and this may take a few weeks.

I have patched the existing PRINTER-1E rom to include control of the HP41CL serial port and basically replaced all SELP 9 instructions (and removed a lot of them, just assuming that the printer is always ON). The initial version only works with Diego's nice USB 82413A emulator (Windows only).
Due to the additional code this will be a 2-bank ROM, replacing the original printer ROM in page 6. TRACE, MAN and NORM mode is controlled by flags 15 and 16, and graphics printing is not supported in this emulator, and of course only works on the HP41CL.

Hi Meindert,

Nice job! ;-)

Look forward to seeing/trying your new PRINTER version (1F?)

Best.

Diego.
