Calculators from this series were never really capable of dealing with even simplest surveying problems decently. HP-65 and especially HP-41 already existed when they appeared on the market. The latter changed the world of surveying, later replaced by HP-48.
Even though programs exist, using them involves pan and paper reading-writing approach, so unless one wants to kill time, there is no practical reason to use one of them IMHO.
