This poll is a first attempt at determining the number of WP 34S devices (reflashed 20b or 30b) in use by forum regulars. I added the options "I'm not interested in WP 34S" and "I don't have a device but use one of the emulators" if you want to participate without actually having a real device.

P.S.: The first vote is by me. Smile
Woot woot got one and multiple emulators Big Grin
The poll results may be short of the total number in use. I've helped four other engineers (not on this forum) create theirs, sometimes several times. I also have another '30b awaiting conversion.

Many thanks again to the terrific WP 34S team!
I got two more 30Bs (mainly because I could get them cheaply) and bought some overlays to convert them, maybe to give them away as a present.
Thanks for your very kind words, Jim. I share your opinion regarding the poll results. OTOH, as Marcus stated, this is a first attempt to get solid figures.

Walter,

Thanks for putting together this poll!

This poll is only one piece of information to add to various other pieces of information to help estimate the total number. For instance Harald says that he has sold about 170 USB boards. I would think that the number of WP-34s units with USB boards is significantly less than the ones without it. And the seller on Ebay has probably sold several score (100+?) in the last few months. Couple that with the fact that only a small percentage of owners is likely to respond to this poll. I'm not quite sure how to put together that estimate!

Good morning!

The option "I have all the parts, but did not turn them into a 34S yet" is missing.

Another very significant piece of information is how many WP-34s units Eric has sold. Eric?

Hi,

Given that this is the proper place to have posted the poll due to the subject matter, it occurs to me that at least it should be some kind of "advertising post with link" on the other forum sections. I am just thinking that for whatever reason, not all the people owning a WP34s visit this section in a regular basis and are not consequently aware of this Poll.

Just my humble suggestion,

Miguel

Also asking Eric how many label sets he has shipped/provided would be informative. While not every label set would necessarily have been used to create a WP-34s, I doubt very many WP-34s units exist without them. It would probably indicate an upper limit.

Nb label divided by 2. Most people would take a spare one. I personally used the main background spare one and I 'm still not happy with placement...
I've got two 34s - one from Eric, one I've done by myself.
And my 15-years-old son has one too (I voted for him) that we've done together, in an attempt to convince him to consider not-graphics calculators. He was quite impressed by the numerous functions put in a so "simple" machine.
Yes the 34s is a terrific project and many thanks to the team!!

I have two. But I think this poll will result in a serious underestimation of the total number of 34s out in the field, because a lot of owners are not likely to visit this website in the coming weeks. Asking Eric figures about the overlays and the 34s he shipped, as well as Gene about the cables he handed out will yield more realistic (and higher) numbers.
Anyway, even after a few years, the 34s is still my primary calc and until the arrival of the 43s it will remain so. The Prime is a runner-up, but the 34s wins on portability and well... it just gets the job done. I think there is no better compliment for a calc.
I have sold 345 of the 34S calculator.

Thanks - there's nothing better than exact figures. Smile

Eric,

How many of the overlays have you sold apart from the WP-34s devices?

Thanks

Sorry Walter but, since part of the price on hpcalc and thecalculatorstore is given back to the team as a donation, shouldn't you already have a rough estimate of sold units? ;)

Si, Massimo, pero did you ever hear of checks and balances? Pauli is your minister of finance. Wink

Number of overlays is hardly telling anything. I have 3 calcs, one from Eric and two others which I made and handed to friends who aren't HPCalc fanatics. I also have 3 spare overlays. So it is 3 calcs vs 6 overlays.
