Full Version: iOS 11.0.1 Prime Pro app pseudo crash on iPad Air 2

I have an iPad Air 2 with the HP Prime Pro app installed. When I try to start the App I get the startup screen and then it then appears to crash and I'm returned to the main iOS screen. However if I double click the home button the Prime app appears in the list of running apps. If I click on the Prime app in this list it opens up. Sometimes it appears to crash again. Sometimes it continues to start up and then works. Sometimes it appears to crash again. This can happen several times before it finally stops appearing to crash and runs properly. I've tried reinstalling the app but it still behaves the same way. Anyone else seeing this and got a workaround/solution ?
We have a beta out on testflight for this. Will probably be pushed live to the store early next week. Send a mail to calcbeta @ HP.com and we'll add you in if you'd like to test that it is resolved. Thanks!
by me ok in iPad Air 2, but not in iPad Pro: after installation the calculator shows only the upper half (the screen) and the lower part is all black, power the (blind) keys are active...
Perhaps we need a new upgrade, thank you.

Did you ever have the previous version (live on store) installed? Does it also have that issue on the ipad pro screen size? I suspect the answer is yes, but maybe not.

Not sure what you mean by "live on store", but before iOS (whyOS?) 11, the Prime Pro app looked perfect on the iPad Pro. After upgrading, the app is unusable.

That was what I meant, is the old one working fine on the same device. Will need to investigate further.

Scratch what I've written. This is an issue with the latest release of the Prime Pro app (1.3.6 Oct. 6, 2017). I just installed this version of the app on my wife's iPad Pro running iOS 10. The exact same symptoms are manifest. All that is visible is the display area; everything else is black. The symptoms are the same in portrait and landscape mode, with and without the title bar. Dragging the left edge of the app correctly displays the setup menu.

Sorry, for steering you in the wrong direction. I must have missed that the app updated on my iPad Pro during the iOS upgrade.

I confirm. I've reinstalled the original app in iPad pro and it's ok, the v1.36 not.

1.3.6 of the Prime Pro app work fine for me on iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4.
Quite easy when it was developed before the ipad pro existed and not a single person ever mentioned it till now. Smile
in the attachment below the problem as it appears in iPad Pro (here by me not in iPad Air 2)...
I notice that my iPad updated the Prime app today and I no longer see the problem ... thanks Tim and the rest of the HP engineering team ...

not here (on iPad Pro): I received another notification but it is always 1.3.6 (12583), so no upgrade was installed...
1.3.6 (12583) Is the version I have installed after the latest update from the Apple App Store. I have not seen the start up problems I was previously seeing simce the update.

yes, you're right: also here on iPad Air 2 no problem now.
I was talking about iPad Pro, where there is the "black lower part" issue, however.
Let's hope HP to solve it soon.
I also if that makes any difference
The issue was a change apple silently did with respect to the larger ipads when building using xcode9 (now required to submit). Should be out before long.
Should be on your testflight now with the update that corrects the ipad pro larger sizes not showing.

yes! also on iPad Pro!
thank you.
The general update to version 1.3.7 is now available. As expected, it corrects the black screen issue on the iPad Pro.

Thanks Tim!
