Hello,

There was definitely an issue with the OS files in the release you just downloaded causing exceptional power drain for some. Everyone who has updated to the new released version is **highly, highly, highly** recommended to follow this procedure. The new zip file for the firmware is live as of right now.

1. Delete the "My Documents\HP Connectivity Kit\Temp" directory, and "HP Connectivity Kit\Firmware" directory.
2. If the connkit is open, close it and reopen the connkit. Run the check for update again. It will re-download the firmware zip file from today.
3. Reinstall on your unit using the new files.

The new application file makes no changes, but the OS files were an earlier version. They will report now in the C F O menu as 032.6030

I will go crawl under a rock now... Sad
So far so good. Seams to be working now. At least I can turn in on and off and the bat. indicator shows 100%. Nice work Tom and I still like you Wink).
Tim,

I tried that.

The ConnKit says "no updates are available."
For me update work fine.
Thank you for the quick help Tim.

Did you close the connkit and reopen it after deleting those files? (scans the directories as it begins running, so if you left it up and deleted them it would have it archived still)

Do exactly what he wrote. It worked for me.
I checked for update using Connectivity Kit:
1. Help, Check for update. If you deleted what he wrote it should download the new ver. files.
2. In left pane unfold the 'name you gave to your calc', right click on the 'name you gave to your calc' and click on 'update'. It should do.

It worked fine for me. Power Off operation works again. Now it is charging...

Thank you, Tim!

However, I have deleted the "Temp" directory, and I have deleted the "Firmware" directory contents as well because inside this directory one can find the previous firmware files dated as May,27.
I get the "No updates are available" message as well. I have:

1. Deleted the temp and firmware directories.
2. Closed the Conn Kit.
3. Opened the Conn Kit.
4. Checked for updates: No updates available message.
5. Shutdown Computer.
6. Restarted Computer.
7. Opened the Conn Kit.
8. Checked for updates: No updates available message.

What else can I do?

The folders are localized, try to look for other folder names (I had duplicated folders in that directory, just look for some big zip files)
It worked for me, thanks a lot! In CFO now it says DATA V0.032.6030, is it ok now? Smile

Strange... what is your Windows version?
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. My folder location is:
C:\Users\<UserProfile>\Documents\HP Connectivity Kit\
Inside this location I have:
- deleted the "Temp" dir;
- opened the "Firmware" directory and deleted all the files inside
and it worked fine.
I even de-installed the connkit, and re-installed after downloading it from the ftp site.

It doesn't want to update.
Now it worked. I didn't click on "Help: check for update" in the connkit, instead went straight to update Prime. Duh.

How do I get to the CFO info again? Thanks so much.
In the edit->prefereces menu, what does it say as your "working folder"? Mine says something like: C:/Users/Tim Wessman/Documents/HP Connectivity Kit. You could manually download from http://ftp.hp.com/pub/calculators/Prime and unzip the firmware file into the "Firmware" directory. (ex:Documents/HP Connectivity Kit/Firmware)

Did the update check work for you before? Or has it never downloaded anything? It is possible the error message is just wrong and the network is actually at fault and not letting a direct connection through.
I scrupulously followed Tim's instruction and it did download again and I could reinstall the firmware.
Now if I go on Help/Tree/About HP Prime I see
Software Version: 2014 3 31 (6030)

If I'm not mistaken I should expect:
Software Version: 2014 3 32 (6030)
Am I right?

Also the firmware file that was downloaded is HP_Prime_Calculator_Firmware_20140331.zip so I would assume it is 331 and not 332.

So is it fixed? How can I tell?

Edit: woot woot just understood the CFO thingy (was wondering why the Chief Finance Officer was involved in the process but all the sudden things get their plain meaning...). So I twisted my 4 fingers like crazy and now indeed I see DATA: V0.32.6030. YES!

Pending issue: problem is that the emulator was not fixed and therefore it may still drain - link

I did:
- Power Off.
- Hold down C+F+O and then press On... and wait until it powers on into the diagnostic menu.
- Select A. Version info

And my calc output is:
EA656 Version Info
DATA Version: V0.032.6030
OS Version: V0.032.6030
Released Version: V1.04
PCB Version: 00
Touch IC FW Ver: 26

Not unless there are 32 days in March.

Sure. But I didn't start the 32 discussion Smile, Tim did.
I made a little script to remove the old firmware files fast with double click:
http://cl.ly/VnJ7
I have updated successfully. The problem was duplicated conn kit directories, some were in the location Tim explicitly said to delete, and others were in my "working" folder, and I had forgotten all about that detail. Deleting the corresponding directories was the magic trick allowing this update to replace the previous update.

So we will see what news tomorrow brings! Thank you Tim for your diligence, and I hope the rock you planned to crawl under has suitable sundowner refreshments!
