I see five workshopers :-)
My main topic will be about PIL-IO applications (the PIL-Box is already well-known...) : using HP-IL to control I/Os and communicate with an Arduino board.
But there are other subjects we can discuss about...

And I will propose to PIL-Box owners present in the meeting a free firmware update. Bring your PIL-Box(es) !

I'm looking forward to it Smile

BTW, there should be six workshopers by now.

Latest informations for the meeting on november 1st were sent to all registrated attenders. If you want to join too, drop me a mail.
If you got a 71B with problems, I will bring an HP71 Diagnostic ROM.
LAST REMINDER

This Saturday: Allschwil Meeting 2014
Why???
Unfortunately I will not be attending the meeting in Allschwill this coming weekend. I am in between business trips and decided I wanted to spend the weekend at home. I wish you all to ENTER a very good meeting and a STACK full of fun!

Schade...
In addition to all the calculator talk, those of us who won't be attending will be missing this.

Not all of them.
I'm back from the meeting and I enjoyed it very much. We had a real life demonstration of a Kern theodolite from the 80ies with an HP 41cy (W&W) and three HP-IL devices (printer, diskette and a new device made of a PIL-IO board and an Arduino that emulates a disk drive on an SD card. The system is still in active duty!

Marcus;
Glad to hear it was an interesting meeting.
Fine instruments and great equipment may go out of style, but what is style but a popularity contest? A Kern & 41 system would be a joy to use.
Did the theodolite use the Kern 4 legged tripod? Those were cool, and fast to set up once one got accustomed to it.
Did anyone take a video of the presentations--to be posted on YouTube?

A PIL-IO board? That's interesting because in the design that was presented some time ago on this forum a PIL-BOX, not a PIL-IO, was required.

We have seen both units: the PIL-IO from Jean-Francois garnier as well as your linked unit: Thanks Tobie for this brilliant job.
It is now working on the Kern theodolite. The guy who showed us the theodolite is a swiss surveyor who is still working with HP-41CY, so this is NO joy for us Wink
An eventful day is behind us. Numerous names have gotten a face and I was able to inform me in a very wide array of the latest developments. The cozy dinner at ZickZack, with some obscure figures next to us was a grand finale.
I want to thank you all with all my heart for the beautiful day and I look forward to seeing you again in Allschwil.
I will make a short summary in my website with all issues we were talking about and the related workshoper so that every (U.S.) guy can see, what he was missing Wink

it is possible to use a PIL-BOX or a PIL-IO with PIL-BOX Firmware..

So, finally my short report of the Allschwil Meeting 2014 is online. You can find it here:

If you need another beta tester, I would be interested to test your implementation.
I have two HP-7470A:
1) HP-7470A-003 (HP-IL)
2) HP-7470A-002 (HP-IB) + HP-82169A (HP-IL/IB interface)
and I do have the usual setup (controllers, modules & PIL-Boxes) to test with.

Hello all,

I put my PIL-IO presentation on line here.
