I've been fiddling around with 41 card readers the last week and got to wondering if there is a table of serial numbers and ROM versions floating around somewhere.
I searched Google and I search through the forum entries, but no joy. So, I thought I'd poll the membership and see if anyone knows if such a beast exists.
I can confirm that unit 2704S80057 is ROM Version 1G. I can also confirm that unit 2220S80921 is ROM Version 1F.
Thanks!

For the record: 2128S45... with Version 1E.

No version, which means that’s the very first version. Anyway, it doesn’t work anymore. (I get MALFUNCTION or CARD ERR). I would try the abrasive red card, if I had one.
Gerson.
You need the service module to get ROM version 1D or less.
Code:
CR-1D 1945A01004
CR-1D 2011A00903
CR-1D 2101S45609
Code:
CR-1E 2052S48206
CR-1E 2058S45227
CR-1E 2133S46062
CR-1E 2135S45593
Code:
CR-1G 2432S80360
CR-1G 2639S80210
CR-1G 2747S80267
I think I got all of them

Interesting that in Singapore they switched to Rev E not later than last week of 1980, but then used some Rev D ROMs again in the first week of 1981. Could be start-up inventory issues?

Maybe ... its possible that they had started the production in Singapore, then received a bunch of chip from a HP USA warehouse that they included in a later production date.

I read in one of the books this afternoon that there was a roll-over for some units at the end of the year. So, the week 58 would mean 6 weeks into the new year, or 2106. It was a sequencing issue and this is the first instance I've seen.
Weird, right?
