Hi,

It’s been some 15 years since I got my first HP48, but I recently purchased a HP50.

I received some programs from a friend with the file extension .tns and am unsure how to load

then onto the calculator to use them correctly?

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Interesting.

".tns" if I remember correctly are ti nspire files. Maybe he tried to load them on the 50g without results.

The 50g should be very similar to the 48g in the general usage. Only it has the awesome sd card (backups? More backups!), more ram and the possibility to load newRPL / hpgcc firmwares that can be really fast.
Thanks pier4R.

Apparently they worked but I'm starting to have my doubts.

What is the correct file format for programs to be used on the 50g?

Thanks,
There are a couple that I've seen, the more prevalent seems to be *.hp, the other one I've seen especially in relation to HPUserEdit is *.hpprg. Others in this forum may have far more to contribute in this regard.

The HP ConnKit saves files as .hp, as does Emu48.

If by "file format" you mean extensions, the most prevalent are probably *.hp, *.txt, and no extension at all.

If you look at the files you have with a text editor, are you able to read them? If so, what is at the beginning (perhaps the first 5-10 characters)?
