HP 41 display reset.

Posted by m robinso on 30 Dec 2001, 2:02 a.m.

The display is regulated by flags 28 and 29.

Flag 28 controls the roles of periods and commas in numerical displays.

Flag 29 controls whether or not a separator mark is displayed.

The default state of both flags is set for US usage. If all else fails, try removing the batteries until the calculator is really dead and the flags should get reset.

The more elegant way to deal with this is through the set flags (SF) / clear flags (CF) commands. I have a CV and the SF is on the 7 key and CF is on the 8 key. Activate the SF key. The display will show SF __. Enter 28. The display is now back to the default.

Happy Calculating!
