Prime still frozen

When I turn my Prime on now after several failed attempts to upgrade the firmware, it now stays on the large X^2 + Y^2 = 1 screen. Anyone have this problem and successfully fix it?

Yes, in fact that just happened to me yesterday, after a firmware upgrade failed halfway through. The following fixed it:

(1) Hold down the Symb key while performing a paperclip reset. That should launch the "recovery mode".

(2) Navigate to the Connectivity Kit's installation folder. On my computer (Win 7, 32 bit) it's here: C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Connectivity Kit

(3) Execute the "Updater.exe" program directly from that folder by double-clicking it. Your Prime will be re-flashed.

This assumes, of course, that you downloaded the latest firmware from HP.

Hope it works for you like it worked for me! If it doesn't, you might have to do the C+F+O+On procedure to "Format Disc C".

Just another reason to add SD card support to the Prime. When I updated the firmware on my 50g, I simply copied the update file to my SD card, inserted it in my 50g and ran the update from there. This avoided all the problems with USB communications between my pc and the calculator. It also provided a direct backup for all my programs and data in the event of memory loss or corruption.

I completely agree. It would make updates and transfer of programs less OS dependent too. On the 50g I exclusively use the SD card.

These steps got me back to the HP Recovery V13 screen, but I cannot get it to do anything else. When I do the C-F-O thing, the screen goes black, but still bright enough I can tell it is on, just nothing is displayed.
