Swiss Micros calcs
Message #1 Posted by Mike Powell on 20 Oct 2013, 10:24 a.m.

I found a discussion (perhaps amongst many) via google in archive 20 about these calcs. http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/archv020.cgi?read=211868

So months on, how do they stack up in any area you care to talk about ? any downsides ?

- cute
- apparently based on original firmware
- nice extras (more memory, additional indicator)
- terrible keyboard
- calcs from initial batch (at least) tend to fall apart, had to glue my DM15CC

The extra memory capability applies only to the DM-15CC.

my 15 is from the second run and it's held up well. No breaks, no glue, and the keyboard is like the calc, just.....small. Battery life is good too. Maybe i finally missed getting the bad one in the batch of something.

You mean the layout ?, not the touch/feel surely ?

Sorry, spiking ESL here. I meant that the keyboard has no issues and hasn't needed any fixing. All the keys function and although they aren't as good as one of the good HPs; they all feel the same which shows that assembly was done well. I like the little thing.

I only caught by chance a video on youtube yesterday which 'explained' the keyboard , it's a dimple! - just wasn't very clear on his website. Still, it interests me, so may well get one soon.

Then by chance I saw another video about a voyager http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBRcheWsSdc The guy has done this!! but is not thinking of building copies?, what's all that about !
