Advanced Graphing App. Message #1 Posted by Jim Johnson on 29 Sept 2013, 11:20 a.m. I must be missing something simple for the example in the Advanced Graphing App. Entered the example in the Users Guide on page 119. Which is: x^2/2-7*x*y/10+3*y^2/4-x/10+y/5-10<0. I did not use the multiplication symbol '*' since the example didn't use it. However I get an: "Error: Syntax Error" message. I also get the same message on the simulator when entering this formula and hitting the <enter> key. What am I missing?

Easy and simple answer and it worked once I changed to "TEXTBOOK" in the "Settings" menu. If the Advanced Graphing application on the HP Prime does not work in RPN mode, why not have the calculator automatically change to the correct mode once you enter this application? Seems intuitive to me.

That's because RPN mode lets you enter expressions in RPN not only in Home but also in Symb view (and other input form fields). For example, in Symb view in RPN mode, to enter 3*X+1, you can either type 3 'X' * 1 + then press Enter, or type '3*X+1' then press Enter. It's very similar to the 49G/49g+/50g in RPN Exact mode, which requires you to either enter expressions in RPN (with the variables quoted if they already exist), or in algebraic form in single quotes.
