Message #1 Posted by Mic on 31 Mar 2013, 11:06 a.m.

Gilles59 from Silicium Forum and I have discovered on Neobits.com what would be the next HP graphing calculator called HP Prime : http://www.calc-bank.com/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=1882

Although, linking directly to the sources...

Grabbing trademarks and seeing which stores leak products, so as to cut ties with them?

Alternately, is the 39gII actually on sale officially in North America? If not... but, looks like the 39gII is NW249AA#ABA already...

Look at the trademark made by HP on "HP Prime Graphing Calculator".

I hope a HP50G2 with grayscale display, a turbo-HPbasic and large LCD as in HP39G2, and CAS with the power or major that the calculator TI89

The CAS of the TI89 has not been surpassed by HP

I would like to see an HP graphing calculator with a hi-res eInk display and a small power port to power an led light to illuminate the whole calculator (like a book light). That would really make it stand out from every calculator on the market. It would also reduce the power consumption. Also, angle the screen like they used to, so it could be seen better sitting on a desk. Maybe add some power management for the processor to let it run at different speeds depending on what it's doing (idle at 12Mhz and crunch at +250Mhz). It would also be nice to have the enter key back where it belongs and a clx that doesn't throw an error if the stack is empty. STO> should assume you want to store to an alpha char if you didn't put one on the stack (like the hp-67). My HP-67 is so elegant and easy to use, where my HP-50g is so powerful but awkward to use. Also, the ability to put rechargeable batteries in the calculator and have them charge when plugged it would be nice. My ham radio has a switch under the batteries to tell it if there are non-chargable, nicad, or nimh batteries in it. Sorry, we probably don't need another wish list that will never come true. Just dreaming. I've thought of making my own calculator with an arduino (or a raspberry pi), eink shield, and older HP calculator keys. With my raspberry pi, it would be easy run an emulator and a tft display.

I don't want e-ink until they make it a whole lot faster.

The correct answer there is to pull a Pebble, and call a Sharp memory LCD "e-paper".

And Pebble gets their memory LCD doing pretty fast animation, too.

I don't see how an added LED light reduces power consumption. Thanks for enlightenment (pun intended).

Only if it replaces an incandescent bulb. Or, maybe, a wax candle or a Bunsen flame... :-)

Except it's unlikely to be an april fool per se - the trademark was filed for on 2013-01-31, and the status was updated to say that it would be assigned to an examining attorney approximately 3 months after filing, on 2013-02-06.

I'd like to mention that strangely, Mic newsed about this some time after TI-Planet (check the timestamps), but without indicating this source.

You'll easily find out by browsing news from both sites that he does that quite often.
