[OT] Happy Father's Day!
Message #1 Posted by Les Wright on 17 June 2012, 2:17 p.m.

I would guess that many of us here are fathers, in many cases grandfathers. So happy day to us all! Seems like a fine day to treat myself to a USB-41 ;)

Thanks for the good wishes but doesn't apply here (Spain). That would be March, 19th.

Best regards. V.

Of course! How silly of me, especially as I have ventilated so much of late regarding the international composition of this forum and the blinders of Americocentrism.

I was indeed referring to the day as it is recognized in Canada and the US.

Happy belated day to you and our Spanish father members!

... as well as many other countries.

Looks like the third Sunday in June is observed in many other countries too, including the homes of many of our members:

So, Happy Father's day to (many) of our fathers, and belated Father's Day to Valentin ;)

For the files: in Germany, Father's Day falls on Ascension Day.
Don't know the deeper implications of this...
Usually, the day is celebrated by an excursion of the ol' chaps (without family!) and accompanied by huge amounts of beer and schnaps.
Don't even know the connection to Ascension Day...
Regards
Frido

Thanks a lot, same to you and all worldwide dads & gramps !

In Spain, March 19th commemorates St. Joseph, Virgin Mary's husband and thus Christ's stepfather, so it's been traditionally commemorated as Father's Day as well. Further, it's usually considered an official holiday so people don't go to work that day and can celebrate with their relatives, which is most convenient.

Best regards from V.

August 12th in Brazil, this year. Some years it coincides with my daughter's birthday. Anyway, congratulations to all those it applies today! As of me, I took this Sunday afternoon to install Harald's USB board into my second WP 34S. Just finished! :-)

Regards,

Gerson.
