OT: Sharp Programs
Message #1 Posted by John Abbott (S. Africa) on 26 Apr 2012, 10:16 a.m.

Hi, does anyone know where I can get hold of a digital copy of the Sharp PC-1211 applications manual? Can't seem to find anything on the internet and this manual is full of really useful programs!
Thanks
John

I think I have it but can't check right now.

Will get back to you in a few hours (unless others can help you sooner).

Hi again, John.

Regrettably, I've been unable to locate a copy of said Application Programs manual for the Sharp PC-1211. I thought I had a PDF version in English at home but alas, it wasn't to be.

I've also been unable to locate one for you on the net except for a used one on sale in Amazon. I'm sorry for raising your expectations high, perhaps other kind forum posters will be able to effectively help you.

Regards from V.

Hi John,

While I don't have the PC-1211 application manual, I do have pdf's of the following for the TRS-80 PC-1 (which is the same as the Sharp 1211):

119 Practical Programs for the TRS-80 Pocket Computer

TRS-80 Pocket Computer Programs (50 basic programs)

Please email me if you wish copies.

Bill

If I may butt in, does anyone know where a copy of the Sharp PC-1001 may be available?

Hi Duane,

Googling finds the following link for the manual:

Sharp 1001 Manual

You can read the manual without logging in. To download it, you'll need to create an account.

almost had a link for you. there is a link below, which is a scanned copy of the manual for a PC-1212. Have no idea if its similar to what you're looking for. Unfortunately (for me anyways) its a scan of a German version of the manual.

The same site has numerous Sharp products, some in English, some not.

All I can find is a 50-page booklet, a bit smaller that A4 size, entitled:

Sharp
Pocket Computer Model PC-1211
Beginner's Textbook for "BASIC"

But that's not what you're looking for. Just thought I'd mention it in case it's of interest.

It does have a few trivial, sample programs together with some simple programming exercises and their solutions.

I've had the PC-1211 from new, and I don't remember it coming with an applications book; possibly an optional extra? But it was a long, long time ago now, and I might have forgotten.

I must have been about 16 at the time my poor, long-suffering dad bought it for me. Back then I was excited by the PC-1211, but found it a bit disappointing as it was slower and, ultimately, less useful than the FX-501P and FX-602P Casio calculators I had. An intriguing "computer in your pocket" nonetheless. Still have it in my desk drawer, and it still works perfectly.
